Open Whitewater Season for the North Fork American River
We’ve waited all year for this! After the thaw of a snowy Tahoe ski season, our valley starts to warm up, and with that comes the renewal of all the gorgeous plants and trees, as well as abundant river flows, thanks to melting snow pack and Spring rains. These conditions allow us to open our rafting excursions on our most advanced Fork of the American River, the North Fork. With a short season from March to May, the window to take advantage of our Class IV and V rapids on this gorgeous and challenging stretch of wild and scenic river is short, but very much worth the wait for advanced rafters!
Spring is also the time to book your excursion on our Middle Fork of the American River, with the season opening in May. This stretch of river offers an 18-mile run with over 19 rapids rating from Class III to IV, and even a man-made tunnel with a rapid inside of it!
Our South Fork of the American River, the season runs March through October, and this is the river which offers the most variety for all levels of experience. We have over four trip options on the South Fork, including a 21-mile run, a 6-mile run and a 15-mile run.
